Where can I apply for a Passport?

You can apply at an acceptance facility, typically by appointment only, and some libraries also offer passport processing as a walk-in service; check your local library's website.

It’s highly recommended to use the Department of State's Form Filler to complete and print your form before heading in to submit it for processing.

How much does a passport cost?

  • Passport Book: $130 (bring a check or money order payable to Dept of State)

  • Application Fee: $35

  • Passport Photos: Approx $15

How long will it take to receive my passport?

  • Routine: Approx 4-6 weeks

  • Expedited: Approx 2-3 weeks (an extra $60)

    Note: it may take 2 weeks for your application to reach Dept of State for processing, the above timelines begin when your application is received at Dept of State.

What do I need to bring for processing?

  • Your DS-11 Form

  • Evidence of U.S. Citizenship - note they will take your birth certificate and mail it to Dept of State with your application. Dept of State will mail you your passport and then mail you your birth certificate separately.

  • Two passport photos (this can be purchased at CVS, Walgreens, or sometimes the processing center - recommend checking with your processing center ahead of time to ensure their equipment is working.)

What if I already have a passport?

Fantastic!

MAKE SURE your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the last day of the cruise. For example, if your passport expires on or before July 20th, it will not be valid for the cruise, and Royal Caribbean will not allow you to board.
